Quiescent Sun

image100

Eight-day video clip of the Sun (Apr. 17-24, 2009) in the 304 Angstom wavelength of extreme UV light taken by STEREO Ahead. There are almost no active regions and very little activity except for a few, small eruptive prominences. The Sun is near its minimum level of activity in its approximately 11 year solar cycle and has been that way for most of the last two years.
