Our Three Suns - July 13, 2007

Our Three Suns

In real estate the three most important words are "Location . . . Location . . . Location". When it comes to solar observations, we do in fact have three spacecraft (STEREO Behind, SOHO, and STEREO Ahead) in three different locations to give us a much wider perspective than any one spacecraft could do (see movie). The three image (July 13, 2007) taken at nearly the same time shows the Sun in an extreme ultraviolet wavelength (195 Angstroms). The two STEREO spacecraft are separated by about 18 degrees and SOHO is holding the central position, close to the Sun- Earth line.
