Big Boomers

image188

The STEREO (Ahead) spacecraft observed two large coronal mass ejections (CMEs) erupt into space in less than a day (June 23-24, 2013). The front edge of the first CME presented a bending motion up and to the left. Before that was out of the field of view, a second CME, more bulbous in shape, heading down and to the right. Together, they suggest that powerful and frequent solar storms are not hard to find these days as the Sun is likely near its maximum period of activity.
